Dedicated Post-Stroke Recovery & Rehabilitation Support
At CareWell Homecare, we provide specialized home care designed to empower stroke survivors as they navigate the journey toward recovery. Our caregivers are trained to support the physical and emotional challenges of post-stroke life, focusing on restoring independence through patient assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). We provide hands-on help with bathing, dressing, and grooming, paying close attention to "one-sided weakness" (hemiplegia) by using techniques that encourage the client to participate as much as possible. From managing personal hygiene to providing mealtime assistance and medication reminders, our goal is to create a supportive environment where your loved one can focus entirely on their rehabilitation and quality of life.
Safe Ambulation & Expert Fall Prevention
Safety is our top priority during the recovery process. Stroke survivors often face balance and coordination issues that increase the risk of injury. Our caregivers specialize in safe ambulation, providing steady physical support and "stand-by assistance" as clients move throughout their homes. We are experts in transfer techniques, helping seniors move safely from bed to chair or wheelchair. To minimize risks, we conduct a thorough environment check—removing tripping hazards, ensuring proper lighting, and helping clients utilize mobility aids like walkers or canes correctly. By staying "one step ahead," we provide the security needed for your loved one to rebuild their confidence and strength. Based on the initial assessment, caregivers will use a gait belt when appropriate to further minimize fall risk.
In-Home Physical Therapy Support
While professional physical therapists design the roadmap for recovery, our caregivers are the daily partners who help keep the momentum going. We assist with prescribed home exercise programs (HEPs), providing the motivation and physical guidance necessary to complete daily stretches, core strengthening, and range-of-motion exercises. Whether it's counting repetitions, helping with "passive" limb movements, or ensuring proper form during a balancing routine, we ensure that therapy doesn't stop when the therapist leaves. This consistent daily practice is often the key to neuroplasticity and regaining motor function. Our in-house Doctor of Physical Therapy is always available to ensure caregiver familiarity with our clients’ home exercise and physical activity routines.
