Home Exercise Support & Physical Activity Assistance
Maintaining mobility and strength is one of the most effective ways to preserve independence and improve the quality of life, especially when managing a chronic diagnosis or recovering from an injury. At CareWell Homecare, our caregivers serve as a vital bridge between professional therapy sessions and daily life. We provide the encouragement, structure, and oversight needed to ensure that physical activity remains a safe and consistent part of your loved one’s routine. Our in-house Doctor of Physical Therapy is always available to ensure caregiver familiarity with our clients’ home exercise and physical activity routines.
Consistent movement is key to maintaining joint flexibility, muscle mass, and even cognitive health. Whether the goal is to regain strength after surgery or to slow the progression of a condition like Parkinson’s or Multiple Sclerosis, we are there to help implement the necessary movements safely. To ensure your loved one’s safety, the specific level of physical assistance provided during exercises is determined during our initial assessment and tailored to their current abilities and medical recommendations.
A Proactive Approach to Mobility
By providing a second pair of eyes and a supportive hand, our caregivers help prevent the "plateau" that often occurs when a person attempts to exercise alone. We focus on creating a safe environment where movement is encouraged but never forced. This proactive support helps reduce the risk of falls and ensures that the progress made during formal therapy sessions is maintained and built upon in the comfort of home.
Our Home Exercise Support Includes:
Home Exercise Program (HEP) Implementation
Providing dedicated oversight and reminders to complete the specific exercises prescribed by a Physical or Occupational Therapist.
Diagnosis-Specific Movement Support
Assisting with specialized routines tailored to a client’s diagnosis—such as "Big and Loud" movements for Parkinson’s, pacing for Chronic Fatigue, or gait training for Post-Stroke recovery.
Range of Motion (ROM) Assistance
Helping with gentle stretching and limb movements to maintain flexibility, reduce joint stiffness, and prevent contractures, particularly for those with limited mobility.
Supervised Walking & Ambulation
Accompanying clients on daily walks, either inside or outside the home, to build stamina and improve cardiovascular health while providing a steadying presence.
Motivation & Consistency
Providing the positive encouragement needed to stay committed to a daily routine, making exercise an engaging and social part of the day rather than a chore.
Safety & Form Monitoring
Observing the client during their movements to ensure they are following the therapist's instructions correctly and are not overexerting themselves.
Progress Tracking
Documenting daily activity levels and any changes in strength or balance to share with family members and healthcare providers.
