Dignified Dressing & Clothing Assistance
Choosing what to wear and getting ready for the day is a key part of maintaining a sense of normalcy and self-esteem. However, for those dealing with arthritis, stroke recovery, or cognitive changes, the fine motor skills required for buttons, zippers, and laces can become a source of daily frustration. At CareWell Homecare, our caregivers provide patient and respectful assistance with dressing, ensuring our clients look and feel their best without the physical strain.
We focus on a "person-centered" approach, encouraging our clients to choose their own outfits and participate in the process as much as they are comfortably able. Whether it is preparing for a formal outing or simply getting into comfortable pajamas for the evening, we handle every wardrobe change with care and attention to detail. The specific level of physical assistance required for dressing is determined during our initial assessment and is tailored to the individual's mobility and energy levels.
Promoting Confidence and Safety
By assisting with dressing, our caregivers help prevent the overexertion and loss of balance that can occur when seniors try to dress themselves while standing or reaching. We prioritize a calm, unhurried pace, particularly for those with memory loss who may find the steps of dressing confusing. Our goal is to ensure that when your loved one looks in the mirror, they see a version of themselves that feels confident, dignified, and ready for the day ahead.
